Cornwall is one of Britain’s most beautiful counties and has some fabulous roads where you can enjoy relaxing motoring amidst beautiful scenery. Here are five routes that being out the best in Cornwall.
1) Newquay to Padstow
The coast road from Newquay to Padstow is simply stunning. Amble along the B3276 and you will encounter MawganPorth, Watergate bay and Porth. Crashing surf, golden beaches and pretty bays are all there to distract you from some challenging hairpin bends.
2) The Roseland
Some say the Roseland peninsula is the epitome of Cornish motoring. Try the A3078 from Tregony to St Mawes and enjoy the challenges of single track roads on the way to hideaways like Carne and Veryan. If you can find a classic convertible amongst the second hand cars Cornwall has to offer, you can drop the top and soak up the sun on the way to the River Fal and the King Harry Ferry.
3) Zennor to Sennen
This is one of Cornwall’s great routes and offers magnificent views of dramatic cliffs as you negotiate every turn. The scenery just keeps getting better until you view the famous Longships lighthouse as you arrive in Sennen.
4) Whitsand Bay
Start at Rame head and motor west along the coast road above Whitsand Bay. Freathy, Crafthole and Looe are excellent stops as you drift above miles and miles of bronze sand and stunning cliff top vistas. With the coast on your left and beautiful countryside to your right, there are lots of places to take a walk amidst Cornwall’s stunning coastal scenery.
5) Boscastle to Bude
Take the B3263 from Boscastle north to Bude and climb cliffs more than 200m high to enjoy some spectacular views. If you have time, detours toCrackington Haven, Coxford and Widemouth Bay will reward you with breathtaking sea views and there are lots of lay-bys where you can park up and enjoy them at your leisure.
